Finding Peace: The Necessity of Humility in Life

Life can sometimes feel like a treadmill stuck on the highest speed, can’t it? You find yourself running again and again, putting in all this effort, and feeling the weight of your burdens. You wonder, “Why am I not getting what I think I deserve? Where is my help?” It’s frustrating, no doubt about it — like waiting for a bus that never shows up. But here’s the thing: maybe we’re looking at it all wrong.

Salvation is a Gift

First off, we have to understand that salvation, or whatever help you’re seeking, is a gift. And like any gift, it can’t be demanded. The frustration of not having what you think you ought to have is a sign that you are not humble. Imagine your kids coming up to you, doing their best to butter you up. They’re maneuvering every word like they’re negotiating a UN treaty just to score that new video game.

You catch on to their little schemes, and what do you do? You hold back the gift. Why? Because you see the guile behind their desire. You know instinctively that giving in to that manipulation won’t help them in the long run. It’s a raw, bold move — not just for you but for their growth, too.

Now, think about how this applies to our relationship with the universe or God (however you envision that presence). If we’re constantly manipulating or demanding what we believe is rightfully ours, it shows a lack of humility. When we are pushy and stubborn about it, salvation is denied. We’ll suffer as we wrestle with that reality, and that’s okay. There’s some soul-searching to do until you discover what it is that you are doing wrong.

Sit with It

Life’s not about getting everything you want when you want it. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is just… want to be a good person. Yes, a wish is all you need — no grand gestures needed. Just a quiet intention to do right by yourself and others. Don’t actually do anything about that wish. Instead, meditate on it. Sit with it. Reflect.

Everything will start to fall into place. The universe has this funky way of responding to sincerity. It’s where we find balance and sometimes surprise. The gifts we get are much greater than what we initially desired.

Consider this example: Your kids voluntarily do their chores. They do it not because they want that prize at the end. Instead, they do it because they love you and want to contribute to the family. You notice their sincere efforts, and what do you feel as a parent? Warmth, appreciation, and the urge to shower them with love and maybe some unexpected treats. They didn’t have to manipulate you into it; they just did what was right out of genuine care. That’s the beauty of selflessness.

Final Thoughts

So, take a cue from that dynamic. When we act out of true goodness, we get the blessings we seek. These blessings come in life, in love, and in salvation. It’s all about timing, humility, and a sprinkle of patience.

Let’s embrace the idea that we can’t bend the universe to our will. Instead, let’s cultivate a mindset of openness and trust. May we all grow to bear our pains with grace. Let us be real. Exploring the beauty of simply wanting to be better—for ourselves and those around us.

Peace out, and remember, sometimes doing nothing is exactly what the universe needs from us!
