The Only Love That Truly Matters

Love comes in many shapes and sizes. Romantic love, familial love, platonic love—you name it, we’ve all experienced it. But when it comes to our relationship with the Divine, there’s something very different at play. The only kind of love a man can truly have for his God is this need for Him. It’s the ultimate acknowledgment that we, as human beings, are limited and often lost without this guiding force.

Man’s Pride

Now, that sounds pretty straightforward, right? But here’s where it gets murky. Enter man’s pride, that sneaky little voice in our heads that thinks it knows better. Instead of acknowledging that deep-rooted need for connection with a higher power, pride tells us to elevate ourselves above that. “Why do I need anyone?” we think. “I can figure this out on my own!” And thus begins the chaotic dance of self-sufficiency.

We march on, often trying to fulfill our own needs in ways that are questionable at best. It’s like stuffing yourself full of all the “information” you can find—books, podcasts, YouTube videos. We’re like eager little sausages, packing in knowledge and experiences in the hopes that they’ll somehow make us feel whole. The trouble is, this isn’t a path to true fulfillment; it merely inflates our egos. We end up feeling more conflicted than ever, wrestling with the nagging feeling that something isn’t quite right.

Humility for True Connection

Let’s break it down: no matter how much you stuff yourself with “knowledge,” you can’t give yourself what you really need. The Divine is not something you can quantify or intellectualize. You can’t wrap your arms around it like a cozy blanket of facts and figures. True connection involves humility, the kind that makes you realize you can’t do it all alone. It takes recognizing that sometimes, you need to lean on something greater than yourself.

We are not self-fulfilling beings. Trying to plow through life as if we’re the ultimate answer to all questions is a guaranteed recipe for trouble. Acknowledging our need for God isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s a sign of wisdom. It takes a lot of strength to admit that we don’t have all the answers and that we actually crave something deeper.

Let Go of the Pride

So, what does this mean for you? Embrace that need; it’s the only true way to love God. Allow it to guide you back to a meaningful relationship with the Divine. Rather than forcing out your own version of happiness, open up to the possibility that true love for God stems from a beautiful acknowledgment of your limitations. In doing so, you’ll find not just fulfillment but a profound sense of peace.

Next time you feel that tension of needing something more, take a breath. Let go of the pride and reach out. The love you seek isn’t waiting on your self-sufficiency; it’s there in the simple act of surrendering to your need for Him. That’s where miracles happen!
